Kita Hilang Punca Pendidikan?

Atuk nak cakap omputih sket. Ni terjadi bila atuk rasa geram, bukan geram kek bini atuk, tapi geram kek perkembangan dan sebenarnya penguncupan kualiti pendidikan kita. Atuk boleh belasah, sebab atuk dah pencen dan atuk tak peduli siapo. Tapi atuk berani cakap pasal bidang yang atuk tau saja. Ada 3 bidang. Mula-mula Atuk nak sentuh Lukisan Teknik dulu.

In the old Technical Drawing Syllabus, there was a topic called Lines and Planes in space. Actually it also covered points in space. Its contents explain the basic ideas looking at points, lines and planes in imaginary space through various viewpoints. The idea is to understand the concept viewing a point or a line and its relation or interception with a plane.

Grasping this concept is very important before the students venture to viewing solid objects through topics such as orthographic and isometric projections, in which, by the way both are orthographics.

Topics such as Atuk mentioned above was long beheaded, along with several others. As long as the syllabus/curriculum panelists themselves do not comprehend the topics, the group normally feel very glad to wield the axe. Mentioning such words like epicycloids, tricycloids and even gears make them all shiver.

Do they now have new inputs, such from the so-called new high-technology? Atuk do not think so. As far as my experiences recall, we did invite some private engineers, normally for showcases.

… tambuah ciekk!

Maybe they (the panelist that design the syllabus) truly believe that the best approach is to take complexity and bring simplicity to it. As a part of scheme to beautify the bell curve…
